What if God turned His back on us.

In Christian theology, God does not turn His back on us. Despite our rebellion and sin, God still loves us and has our back. The concept of God abandoning us is complex and not universally accepted.

The idea that "God turns His back on us" often stems from feelings of abandonment during difficult times, but biblical teachings emphasize that it is humanity that turns away from God, not the other way around.

Jesus on the Cross: One of the most poignant moments in the Bible is when Jesus cries out, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Mark 15:34).

This moment reflects the profound separation Jesus experienced as He bore the sins of humanity.

While it may seem like God turned His back on Jesus, this was a necessary part of the sacrificial process for our sins, allowing believers to receive forgiveness and eternal life.

Human Rebellion: In Jeremiah 11:11, the context suggests that it is not God who turns away, but rather His people who have turned their backs on Him.

The passage highlights God's faithfulness to His covenant, even when His people stray.

This indicates that feelings of abandonment often arise from our own disobedience and distance from God.

Perception of Abandonment: Many believers struggle with the feeling that God is distant during trials.

However, it is essential to understand that God does not abandon His children.

Instead, these moments can serve as opportunities for spiritual growth and reflection.

The feeling of distance may be a result of our own turning away or a test of faith.

God's Unchanging Nature: The Bible consistently portrays God as loving, patient, and merciful. Even in times of hardship, His presence remains, and He invites us to return to Him.

The Parable of the Prodigal Son illustrates this beautifully, showing a father who welcomes his wayward son back with open arms, symbolizing God's endless love for humanity.

Purpose in Suffering: While suffering and trials can lead to feelings of abandonment, they often serve a greater purpose in our spiritual journey.

God allows these experiences to help us grow stronger in our faith and reliance on Him. The challenges we face can lead us to seek Him more.

While it may feel at times that God has turned His back on us, biblical teachings emphasize that it is often we who turn away from Him.

God remains faithful and present, even in our darkest moments.

Understanding this can provide comfort and reassurance that we are never truly abandoned. Instead, we are invited to return to Him and experience His love and grace.

The one thing God was after that would have changed everything in Israel and Judah was a people that would love him with all their heart.

Unfortunately this did not happen.

God is still after the same thing.

He wants people that will love him from their heart.

When you do, then you will experience fellowship with the Lord that he reserves for those who long for him.

I guess the only question left to ask is, will you be one of those people?
