THE THRONE OF GOD

THE THRONE OF GOD.

As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.Daniel 7:9
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.Hebrews 4:16
Church,
There is such a contrast in these 2 verses. In Daniel, he describes God’s throne as flaming with fire and ablaze. The sight of this throne must have been awesome and fearful to behold. Then Hebrews tells us to approach this same throne with confidence. In this verse, it is described as a throne of grace where we can find mercy and help in a time of need.

I love the contrasts in which God presents Himself throughout the Bible. It is the same throne of God in both verses; it is the same God in both books. Yet we, as sons and daughters of the Most High King, get to approach that same throne with confidence. The throne is still blazing with fire but we do not fear the flames because we are covered by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

God sitting on His throne of fire is an awesome sight that should instill a sense of awe in the heart. But praise Jesus we do not have to fear the flames but can approach that throne with confidence knowing that we serve a father with only good things for His children.
