Soldier of God

Image
Soldier of God I am a soldier in the army of my God. The Lord Jesus Christ is my Commanding Officer. The Holy Scripture is my code of conduct. Faith, prayer and the Word are my weapons of warfare. I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity and tested by fire. I am a volunteer in this army, and I am enlisted for eternity. I will not get out, sell out, be talke d out or pushed out. I am faithful, reliable, capable and dependable. If my God needs me, I am there. I am a soldier. I am not a baby. I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up, pumped up, picked up, or pepped up. I am a soldier. No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me or lure me. I am a soldier. I am not a wimp. I am in place, saluting my King, obeying His orders, praising His name and building His kingdom! No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards or candy, or give me handouts. I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for or catered to. I am committe...

"Why is giving thanks to God important?"

Image
"Why is giving thanks to God important?" God is alive and present in our lives, and gives us a strong foundation for all that we do. He is the rock and foundation of our faith, and should be praised! We should give thanks to the Lord, for his righteous nature and because of His strong enduring love for us, despite our ugly sinful natures. The Bible is filled with commands to give thanks to God ( Psalm 106:1; 107:1; 118:1; 1 Chronicles 16:34; 1 Thessalonians 5:18). Most verses go on to list reasons why we should thank Him, such as “His love endures forever” (Psalm 136:3), “He is good” (Psalm 118:29), and “His mercy is everlasting” (Psalm 100:5). Thanksgiving and praise always go together. We cannot adequately praise and worship God without also being thankful. Feeling and expressing appreciation is good for us. Like any wise father, God wants us to learn to be thankful for all the gifts He has given us (James 1:17). It is in our best interest to be reminded that everything we...

Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV)

Image
Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. As a young Christian, this verse became the glue helping me bond to God and one of the first I memorized. I comforted myself with these powerful an d liberating words, as they reminded me how God was there helping me through the tough stuff life slung at me. “No weapon formed against me”, meant just that…they couldn’t touch me. I found myself praying this verse almost every time I prayed (I still do). I would pray things like: “no weapon formed against my…family, my friends, my job, my church, shall prosper”. No weapon of sickness, of disease, of poverty or lack. No weapon of violence or anger or bitterness or torment shall prosper against me, my family, my loved ones, my church, for this is my heritage. Wow! I’m pumped just thinking about...

Who is Your God? Is it who you think it is?

Image
Who is Your God? Is it who you think it is? I've never met a Christian who says they don't love Jesus. All Christians say "I Love Jesus". Yet, sometimes I wonder if Jesus is really their God. According to the Bible, how do we determine who or what is really our God? Let's travel back in time to the days of Moses. That great man of the old testament who was God's instrument in leading the people of Israel out of Egypt. After Moses fled from Egypt as a younger man, he spent 40 years in the wilderness. At the end of which the Lord came to him and told him to go to Egypt and to talk with pharaoh about letting Israel go. Moses didn't think he was the right person to do this, and so he made the excuse that he was not eloquent of speech, and could not talk with Pharaoh, the leader of the most powerful kingdom at that time. God answered saying that his brother Aaron could go and do the speaking instead of Moses...

Religion Vs Relationship With God.

Image
Religion Vs Relationship With God. In this post, we will be comparing the differences between religion vs relationship with God. As believers if we are not careful we can easily be involved in religion and be oblivious to it. Religion can easily dominate your prayer life. Religion can easily dominate your daily walk with Christ. Religion cripples your relationship with God and it greatly hinders us. However, believers can go overboard when we use “the religion excuse” to live in rebellion and worldliness. We must be careful that we don’t harden our heart to rebuke and correction. There are many things that will be discussed in this post. I encourage you as you read this post to examine your life. Quotes -“[Alot of people] think that Christianity is you doing all the righteous things you hate and avoiding all the wicked things you love in order to go to Heaven. No, that’s a lost man with religion. A Christian is a person whose heart has been changed; they h...

Why do some Christians eat fish on Good Friday?

Image
Why do some Christians eat fish on Good Friday? When I was young my mother was always insistent that on Good Friday we would have fish and chips for dinner that night. When I questioned her and asked her why, her answer was that Jesus was on the cross between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm so we eat fish on Good Friday and so we eat fish to commemorate that. My logical mind kicked into gear and I thought  "What? That doesn't make sense." I was aware that Jesus, on the day He was crucified, was held captive by Roman soldiers and had no opportunity to eat any kind of meal – let alone fish. So where did this tradition of eating fish on Friday originate? In his book "Babylon Mystery Religion", author Ralph Woodrow explains its origins in the quote below: Certainly the Scriptures never associate fish with Friday. On the other hand, the word "Friday" comes from the name of "Freya", who was regarded as the goddess of peace, joy and FERTILITY, the symbol of f...
