God’s Word is music for the Soul

Image
God’s Word is music for the Soul Matthew 4:4, NIV. “Jesus answered, ‘It is written: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”’ (Matthew 4:4, NIV) There you have it. If we are going to experience a true spiritual life renewal, we need to know and receive the Word of God, “but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” (2 Timothy 1:10, NKJV) Without God’s Word we are weak, ignorant vessels, losing our way in this complex world system dedicated to keep us from discovering and living the truth. Why do you think Job said he treasured God’s Word more than his necessary food? Why do you think Jeremiah said he ate God’s Word when he found it? Why do you think David said God’s Word was more valuable to him than thousands of pieces of gold and silver? David said, “This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life.” (Psal

The Bible Is Christ in Print There is no better source of inspiration and instruction for your life

The Bible Is Christ in Print There is no better source of inspiration and instruction for your life. Can you prove that the Bible is Jesus Christ in print? Does the Bible make this claim? It is the most popular book in the world, with well over 2 billion copies sold in 300 languages. Still, this book is shrouded in mystery! Almost no one understands its message! Why? The Bible explains why you were born, where you are headed, and the master plan of God as pictured by His annual holy days. It makes plain why this world is free-falling into oblivion. Often said that the Bible is our Maker’s instruction book. It shows us how to have real peace, happiness and success. You can study the Bible to know the cause of all world problems: human nature. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). The bloody history of mankind is a result of our “desperately wicked” heart, or human nature. Your Bi

Mary the Mother of Jesus What was the role of Mary the mother of Jesus in His ministry?

Image
Mary the Mother of Jesus What was the role of Mary the mother of Jesus in His ministry? The role of Mary, the mother of Jesus in His ministry was that she was part of those who Jesus came to "seek and to save" (Luke 19:10). Mary herself recognized her own need of a Savior. "And Mary said: 'My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior" (Luke 1:46-47). Therefore, Mary was the bearer of the humanity of our LORD Jesus Christ, but she had no part in His ministry other than that of an observer and a follower. There is an incident at the beginning of Jesus' public ministry that sheds light upon the role of Mary the mother of Jesus in His ministry. The only place we read about this incident is in the gospel of John. The context is at a marriage celebration in Cana. This marriage could have been of relatives or perhaps friends of the family: "On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus an

"How was Jesus’ death a real sacrifice if He knew He would be resurrected?"

Image
"How was Jesus’ death a real sacrifice if He knew He would be resurrected?" Christianity teaches that God, in human form, lowered Himself to being humiliated and murdered by His own creations. That sacrificial death opened a path to salvation for anyone and everyone who trusts in Jesus Christ. Christ went to death knowingly (Mark 8:31), with full understanding that He would suffer on a cross and  that He would be raised from death (Luke 24:46). Since Jesus knew the eventual outcome, some question whether this was a real sacrifice. Was Jesus’ death on the cross truly sacrificial, if Jesus was guaranteed to be raised from death? Those who doubt that Jesus’ death was a real sacrifice misunderstand what happened on that cross. Christ’s sacrifice was not entirely about ending the life of His human body. In truth, what happened on the cross involved more than stopping a heartbeat. The sacrifice of Christ also came in His emotional suffering (Isaiah 53) and in an omnipotent, perfec

"What does it mean that 'by His stripes we are healed'?"

Image
"What does it mean that 'by His stripes we are healed'?" “Stripes,” (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24) in the language of the King James Version of the Bible, and in some others, means “wounds,” as seen in more modern translations such as the New International Version. These stripes were administered by whipping the bare backs of prisoners whose hands and feet were bound, rendering them helpless. The ph rase “by His stripes we are healed” refers to the punishment Jesus Christ suffered—floggings and beatings with fists that were followed by His agonizing death on a cross—to take upon Himself all of the sins of all people who believe Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). The whips used were made of braided leather, with pottery shards and sharp stones affixed to the ends, which tore open the flesh of the prisoner with each cruel swing of the whip. When we picture this terrible, inh

Is there any biblical support for Sunday observance?

Image
Is there any biblical support for Sunday observance? There are no New Testament texts that say God, Jesus, or the apostles changed the Sabbath to Sunday. This is very significant, and we will explain why. You are perhaps aware that circumcision was a huge issue during the apostolic era of the first century. Conservative Jewish Christians insisted that Gentiles who wanted to become Christians sho uld be circumcised first (well, the men at least!) and observe the other Jewish ceremonial laws. In other words, in order to be a Christian, a Gentile would first have to become a Jew. Then he could be a Christian. Paul said No. He insisted that Gentiles can come to Christ and be Christians directly, without having to go through Judaism ( for example Romans 3:25-29; 1 Corinthians 7:19; Galatians 2:12; 5:6-15; Ephesians 2:11; Titus 1:10). Therefore, Gentiles did not have to be circumcised in order to become Christians. Keep in mind that Sabbath was just as important to Jews as circumcision, and

Luke 1:39-45 New International Version (NIV) Mary Visits Elizabeth.

Image
Luke 1:39-45 New International Version (NIV) Mary Visits Elizabeth. 39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” "Who was Elizabeth in the Bible?" Elizabeth in the Bible was the wife of a priest named Zechariah; she was also a cousin of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Elizabeth and Zechariah are called “righteous and blameless” people who walked in all the commandments of the Lord (Luke 1:

Who Changed THE SABBATH TO SUNDAY?

Image
Who Changed THE SABBATH TO SUNDAY? There can be no doubt that Christ, His disciples, and the first-century Christians kept Saturday, the seventh-day Sabbath. Yet, today, most of the Christian professing world keeps Sunday, the first day of the week, calling it the Sabbath. Who made this change, and how did it occur? No serious student of the Scriptures can deny that God instituted the Sabbath at  creation and designated the seventh day to be kept holy. “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made” (Genesis 2:2–3). It was later codified as the Fourth Commandment (Exodus 20:8–11). The Word of God makes it expressly clear that Sabbath observance is a special sign or “mark” between God and His people. There is also no uncertainty that Christ, His disciples, and the first-cent

Sunday is NOT the Sabbath!

Image
Sunday is NOT the Sabbath! This post is intended for those who may think that Sunday is the seventh day, or sabbath day, that the Bible designates to be set aside for the worship of God. It is quite surprising how many people actually think this. They generally assume that since Saturday and Sunday are the "weekend", that Monday must be the first day of the week because it is their first work day  of the week. Today, confusion on this point is compounded by the practice, particularly in Europe for the last thirty years, of arranging calendars with Monday as the first day, and Sunday as the seventh day of the week. This would then lead you to believe that Sunday is indeed the seventh day sabbath. Are You Observing the Right Day of Worship? Most Christians have never studied why Sunday is their day of worship. If you are one of them, you are denying yourself special blessings from God! Most professing Christians observe Sunday as their weekly day of worship. Do you know why? H

Was Jesus Resurrected on Easter Sunday? The truth! (Pt 1)

Image
Was Jesus Resurrected on Easter Sunday? The truth! (Pt 1) The month coming we will be keeping the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and for traditional Christianity Easter Sunday also falls during this time. "Christians" the world over celebrate Easter as a day of worship, though the Bible contains no command of God on the matter. If one were to ask them, "Why is Easter celebrated on Su nday?" they would likely say that Jesus instituted a new day of worship when He rose from the grave on the first Easter Sunday morning. This, they believe, allows them to violate God's command to keep the seventh-day Sabbath (Exodus 20:8; Deuteronomy 5:12). To buttress their view, traditional Christianity teaches: » The Passover is a Sabbath, and all Sabbaths occur on the seventh day. » The preparation day can only fall on the sixth day of the week (Friday). » When the women arrived at the tomb on the first day of the week (Sunday), Jesus had just risen at dawn. » Jesu
